When a cracked roof structure beam is discovered there are two options, replacement or repair.
This procedure typically involves removal of the roofing and roof plywood, weather permitting, and removal of the beam. Then a new beam must be dropped in from the roof followed by the reinstallation of the plywood, patching the roof, and fastening the supports. This process is typically double the entire repair budget for the project.
This procedure consists of shoring up the cracked beam with a slight camber/arch added, fabricating 3/8 inch steel plates with predrilled holes and sandwiching the shored beam with the bolted steel plates. Then the center intercession of the steel plate is welded and the shoring is removed. This process is significantly more cost effective and can be done rain or shine.
